Nigerian startup BitMigo Technologies unveiled VIXA, an AI-driven payment interface enabling cross-border cryptocurrency transactions directly via WhatsApp. The platform allows users to buy, sell, swap, send, receive and withdraw cryptocurrency through conversational interactions rather than navigating conventional crypto exchanges.
VIXA connects users to financial infrastructure across 19 African markets, including Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Ghana and Rwanda. The platform is targeted at Africans who work, travel or maintain financial relationships across multiple countries. Transactions can be completed in as little as 60 seconds with zero transfer fees, although costs may vary.
Beyond cryptocurrency, VIXA is developing access to tokenised equities, potentially allowing users to invest in selected companies across the US, Europe and Asia. Co-founder Saviours Daniel said Africa remains one of the most financially fragmented regions, and the platform aims to simplify cross-border finance.
The winners: African users, who gain access to simplified cross-border crypto transactions; and BitMigo, which has launched an innovative platform. The losers: traditional crypto exchanges, which face competition; and regulators, who must ensure compliance.
Bottom Line: VIXA brings crypto to WhatsApp. Cross-border payments are getting simpler. The question is whether regulators will embrace or restrict the platform.
