Residents of Nuru Suraj Estate in Millennium City, Kaduna, fear for their safety after a fresh attack. Suspected kidnappers abducted about six people in the early hours of Tuesday. A resident, Maman Hamid, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the attackers entered through the estate’s second gate. Military personnel pursued them. Some victims were rescued. The kidnappers escaped.
Millennium City is a developing residential area on the outskirts of Kaduna. It has experienced repeated kidnapping incidents in recent years. In October 2026 alone, the area recorded two major attacks. On 6 October, gunmen abducted Ahmed Abubakar Zakka, his wife and their infant daughter from Alrahus Estate. They were later rescued. On 12 October, police arrested eight suspected kidnappers and four alleged informants around Millennium City and Maraban Rido. AK-47 rifles were recovered. The arrests did not stop the attacks.
The attackers gained access through the estate’s second gate. Residents said the entry point is poorly secured. They have complained for months about weak access control. Military personnel responded. They pursued the kidnappers and rescued some victims. At the time of filing, the number rescued and the whereabouts of those still missing were not established. The Kaduna Police Command has not reacted to the latest incident.
The attack has renewed calls for stronger security. Residents want better estate gates, effective surveillance and prompt responses to distress calls. They say the pattern is now predictable. Gunmen enter through poorly guarded gates, abduct residents and escape before security arrives.
The 12 October arrests showed that intelligence-led operations can work. They did not prevent Tuesday’s raid. The networks adapt. Informants remain embedded in communities. Until those networks are dismantled, the estates remain vulnerable.
Winners: The military, which rescued some victims. The kidnappers, who escaped. No one else. Losers: The abducted residents and their families. The rescued victims, who face trauma. Residents of Millennium City, who live in fear. The Kaduna Police Command, whose silence is damning. Estate managers, whose access control is exposed. The state government, whose security promises ring hollow.
Bottom Line: Kidnappers entered through the second gate. Soldiers rescued some. Others remain missing. Millennium City has seen this before. The arrests did not stop it. The gates are still weak. The next raid is a matter of time.
