The Nigerian Army officially deployed 86 personnel of the ECOWAS Stabilization Support Mission to Guinea-Bissau. Defence headquarters confirmed that the contingent underwent rigorous pre-deployment training in tactical defence, joint peacekeeping manoeuvres, and international humanitarian law to support regional political stability in West Africa.
The deployment is part of Nigeria’s commitment to regional stability. Guinea-Bissau has experienced political instability in recent years, and the ECOWAS mission is designed to support the country’s democratic transition. The Nigerian contingent will join other West African troops in providing security and support.
